Book- Movie to come...

Hi guys, sorry I've been MIA, I was on a cruise.

But I read this book about a gangster that was close to La Costra Nostra. James "Whitey" Bulger is an Irish American from South Boston where all of "Southie" was a family. He started out with petty crime as a teenager but grew into the FBI's 10 most wanted in his 70s. He ran his town for 30 years as a gangster/FBI informant which is crazy!

The book is kind of hard to read, I think because it is written by newspaper writers and it is written as a really long editorial. I didn't like how they worded a lot of the quotes and explanations. It was written in 3 parts but all the parts were pretty similar and most confusingly it was not in chronological order! I multiple times had to go back and reread parts mostly because I couldn't tell what year we were in in regards to the story.

I am usually pretty good at multitasking and can read while watching tv or listening to podcasts, but I could not do that with this book. Sometimes I even lost my page while listening to music. I like to think that I couldn't hold the page because the writing was in long paragraphs and so sometimes I had to stop mid paragraph because something else caught my attention (for example a big wave or a bird.) The pages all looked the same. Also the information was hard to follow because they would just through random stories in without them having anything to do with what was going on in the book. It was crazy!

So in conclusion, the book was so good but has to be read in certain circumstances. I do not suggest reading around the house when kids can come up and interrupt every minute. It took the entire cruise to read whereas the last cruise I was on I read 6 books. So its as time consuming as reading 6 Nicholas Sparks books.
