Jumanji; The Next Level

This post is going to be more about the situation around watching the movie but I really like the 2 newer Jumanjis so I'm still going to keep this about the show too. So I met this guy completely randomly and didn't think anything of him. Then I found out that my friend knew him and thought we could be good together at least physically... So she started matchmaking. Knowing a little bit more about him and after having a conversation with him I agreed to go out for drinks with him. We were there for way longer than I expected but it was a lot of fun and we really vibed. Even made out by our cars after. After that we went out again and I actually spent the night at his place. Then I decided it could be time to invite him over to my place to meet my dogs. They liked him instantly and it was really surprising and really cool. Then we watched a movie. The movie was so funny, I already liked the combo of Dwayne, Kevin, Jack, Gillian and Nick but we add Awkwafina to the mix who is

Neon Genesis Evangelion

Nerd alert! This is an Anime from 1995 but it takes place in 2015 and I watched it in 2021... So already it was trippy. This also only goes 1 season but you'll never want to watch it unless I spoil some things for you. So, my brother called it Pacific Rim but the anime version. So basically there are these monsters attacking Japan, the first monster basically devastated Japan in 2000 or something like that so from the start of the show the characters are terrified. But it's been some time and scientists have created "robots" to counter act the monsters they call Angels. These robots are called Evangelions or Evas but they have to be piloted by kids (I'm really not sure why.) So we watch a few battles, get to know the characters, and learn the dynamic between Shinji, the main character and his dad. And then it all comes to a head. Another one of Shinji's classmates gets pulled to pilot an Eva and in some twist of fate it turns out that he was part of a larger

Unobscured S3

This was a little bit of a different take on the Jack the Ripper story. A serial killer that was never caught who roamed the Whitechapel district. 11 murders occurred between 1888 and 1891 and they were all poorer women who society barely cared about. Most of us who have any thoughts of history or gore know the story. However Aaron dives deep into the darker parts of history. I listen to 3 different podcasts from him… And I'm obsessed with all of them. So this season starts by talking about the poverty in this area and how people get caught in it's grip. The first episode talks about the Match Women, women who work in the match making factories. I pictured a lot of Fantine (Les Miserables) type situations, I know that took place in France not England but I'm sure it was all over. These women had to support themselves or their families but women who worked were looked down on. Working class took on a whole different meaning when it came to women, women were supposed to get

Dating disaster

So as I'm sure I've mentioned, I've been on Hinge. I'm terrible at stuff like this. Humble brag I get a lot of matches (I know most women do) and I talk to most of them but when it comes to meeting I'm not good at planning for that. So I'm generally talking to 4 or 5 people at once but all year I've only actually met 3 people. Those are terrible odds… Meanwhile, I'm randomly end up just hanging out with a few people that I already know. So it all seems pointless. But I really like meeting people and I really don't want to be alone all the time. So, do you see my dilemma! So here I am basically playing a game, like I kind of feel like I'm playing some kind of sims dating game. So is it worth the time? Or am I just wasting time when I could be accomplishing or focusing on something better? These are the thoughts on my mind. But at the same time I think I need to learn how to date in this world. When I used to date before I was married it was "

Never Have I Ever

Mindy Kaling produced this and I was totally sleeping on it. I did add it to my list pretty quickly but I didn't watch it because I don’t need to watch the teenage shows! But I actually totally do… I love them so much! And this one was so stupid funny. It's about this girl who has a major tragedy happen in front of everyone. So it manifested by her legs deciding they didn't work anymore. But turns out that was just temporary and by the time the next school year started she could walk again. So she decided that it was a sign and she was supposed to make this her year. She wanted to be popular and the first step was finding her and her friends boyfriends. Which she had already picked out… But then, the hottest guy at school looks at her and she develops another plan and they kind of become friends and it starts looking promising but in the most relatable way things always happen and get in the way and it just doesn't work out the way we plan. But the nice thing about De

All The Bright Places

This is one of those movies that seem dark from the very beginning, like you know something is coming. I mean we find out pretty early that Elle Fanning's (Violet) sister died and so she is obviously sad and in pain. And Finch finds her in a precarious position and decides that he can help. And that is how this relationship starts. However that saying about helping yourself before you can help others comes to mind watching this. Turns out that while Violet was definitely in a position where distraction was important, Finch wasn't really mentally healthy himself. So when she started draining his emotional well he reacted poorly. This show is supposed to be a teenage romance story but it turns out to be more of a show about teenage mental health to me. However I am very focused on mental health right now because I am also not mentally or emotionally healthy. But I also liked it because their whole thing is going around and finding weird things that make their state cool. I am

Firefly Lane

I didn't really like this show at first. I didn't really see the point of the story. Like it's just a best friend show, no real substance just 2 girls who grew up together. But it does grow in suspense and drama so by the end I was like "wait is that it?" And Katherine Heigl made a comeback I guess and Sarah Chalke has been kind of a backup star since Scrubs. So it was cool to see them be in a successful show again if just for a season. I'm sure they will do a second season because Netflix is pretty good at those kind of things. The friendship is based around meeting in high school and then being there for each other always. They move on and follow different paths but Firefly Lane girls forever. So it's kind of like This Is Us where it follows 3 or 4 different timelines with these girls. Always an interesting concept. I like a few of the other actors too but these 2 were definitely made to be the stars. Where it only went 1 season and I didn't real
