Hairspray

Movie I didn't think this was my kind of movie when it came out... But in college I saw it at Tuacahn (I know, I'm obsessed with Tuacahn) and I loved it so much! I started listening to the motion picture soundtrack constantly, well between Disney songs... Eventually I bought the movie and found that it is also a fantastic performance. Another star-studded movie from a Broadway musical... It has Zac Efron, James Marsden, Michelle Pfeiffer, Brittany Snow, Amanda Bynes, Queen Latifa, John Travolta, Christoper Walken, and even Jerry Stiller. The music is so upbeat and the message is really important too. The opening song is Good Morning Baltimore and it talks about rats and garbage and the "flasher that lives down the street." It is all about how the 60s were a time when different kinds of people were becoming accepted. The story follows high schooler "heavy weight champion" Tracy who breaks down the wall a dance show catered to tiny white kids. Tracy wanted

Dream Girls

Movie This movie came to Jennifer Hudson very soon after getting kicked off American Idol. It was probably a better pathway anyway. She played the better singer to Beyoncé. I'm actually very impressed that Bey was fine with JHud playing the better voice... I would have thought she was too diva for that but she did so good. The movie was another Broadway remake. This was a Broadway musical that was turned into a movie with superstars like Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphey, Danny Glover, John Lithgow, John Krasinski, Jaleel White and of course Beyoncé. In fact, They even had Loretta Devine who played Lorrell in the Broadway show. The musical was loosely based on the Supremes and therefore was all about soul music of the Chicago 60s. Fun fact: in high school I was supposed to perform a lipsync to the title track in the movie but at the last minute we chose to do a part from My Best Friend's Wedding instead. I'm still bitter about the change... I love the people, the music, the sou

The Little Mermaid

Play I watched this at Tuacahn amphitheater. Tuacahn does Broadway style musicals and they rotate through them every few years but people come from all over the country to perform there. Now obviously, I loved the Disney movie but there is so many other songs that aren't in the cartoon. It was really nice to hear Prince Eric sing. My mom didn't like Prince Eric's singing, she thought he was trying too hard, but I loved him! I'm even following him on IG now. And Ariel! At first I was like ok, I like her voice but it wasn't that spectacular. Then after intermission when she was learning how to walk, she was just incredible! She honestly looked like she was new on her feet. I love all of the characters and the songs and Tuacahn just made everything better! I mean Sebastian was so talented, Ursula was amazing! Even Flounder, Flotsam, and Getsam were crazy good singers and dancers. I just love watching the dancers and stage production! Every time I go to a show like

Burlesque

Movie Cher and Christina Aguilera star in this show about a night club that is running out of money. It's got other famous people like Stanley Tucci, Peter Gallagher, Kristen Bell, Alan, Cummings, Cam Gigandet, Julianne Hough, Dianna Argon, and Eric Dane. With all these talented people, I don't think it was well received. It has a 36 on Rotten Tomatoes... I only bought my copy in the $5 bin at Walmart... But I loved it! The other day I went to a show at Tuacahn in St. George and ever since then I've been listening to all of my favorite musicals. When I got home from this trip to St. George, I had one last day off before starting back on my grueling work week. I decided to watch a bunch of musicals and since my movies are organized alphabetically Burlesque came up first. Now this wasn't the kind of musical I had in mind at first but when I saw it, I decided that it was just what I needed. This show has classic songs like Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend, along with

Hobbies-Shopping

Hi guys, I feel like I should have another hobbies one but I don't have any new hobbies. One thing that did happen is I dipped crazy far into my savings because I went on a month long shopping spree. I am seriously stressed about it, but I got so many things that I really needed! When I recognized that this was happening I started buying clothes for my friends kids! I have Christmas all taken care of for everyone! Now I start the down side where I have to replenish my savings account. Which means I will be working as much as possible next month. I'm unbelievably stressed that I let this happen, but it was worth it in the moment... So for the rest of the year I'm only buying groceries! I mentioned in a post about a year ago that I was trying to get into real estate as a side hustle. I'm still working on that and right now my plan is to be able to make another step towards this goal in 2021. My current plan is to refinance this year, pay off our loan for our basement r

Avengers Endgame

Movie Ok everyone had already been obsessed with this movie and the excitement has definitely died. But in the wake of the Spiderman drama, it hits on another level. I did love this movie though! It is very long and I fell asleep in a few small moments but I still loved it! I woke up for the end and couldn't tear my eyes away!  Obviously it's sad in it's way but I totally get why they did what they did. For one thing, I'm about sick of Cap's holier than thou attitude and I was ready for Chris to be out of contract. I love Chris Evans and I love Captain America, I'm just getting sick of their tude. It seems that Anthony Mackie (Falcon) may be the new Captain America. Thor was proof that Chris Hemsworth is one of the most talented actors ever! He's not just a pretty face, he's hilarious and can change up his characters. I loved him in this movie. Also rumor has it, Natalie Portman is going to take over as Thor. Robert Downy Jr. is like all time ultimat

Black Mirror

TV show This is a British TV show about the possible perils of technology and it's effect on our lives. It focus's on video games and virtual reality and other things like that and the way we could eventually become if we don't stop our reliance on technology. It was as creepy as anything I've ever seen! I liked that they tell different stories every episode too. They went into so many things that legitimately could happen, but probably wouldn't. There were a lot of fun people in these episodes. For example Miley Cyrus had an episode. It was so trippy though! I mean, I don't know how else to say it but the show is insane! It's so good but so scary! I think you should watch it but it is British so they swear a lot. Like a ton! But there also aren't that many episodes so I went through them fast.
