Stay Sexy and Don't get Murdered

Book This is a how to book written by Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark, the creators of the My Favorite Murder podcast. The chapter heads are based off funny things they said in the podcast but the actual writing in the chapter is stories about their lives. They are deep stories too. I can't blame them for thinking that writing the book was the hardest thing they've done. They are real life stories about growing up, and becoming the people they are today. I read the book in 3 days while on vacation with 8 of my closest friends, I really didn't read that often. I was doing a lot but every chance I took I read a chapter or two. I was obsessed with this book! It had the humor and personality of the podcast. I also think it had some really important views. It really has a lot of deep wisdom! But while I recommend everyone reading this book, it does swear a lot and have dark stories involved. I mean it's a true crime podcast, but the book is more Karen and Georgia

Dead to Me

TV show Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini team up and become best friends in this twisty show. James Marsden is also in it playing a total shady jerk. It's strange because we get this story about him, then we meet him and he seems so nice but it still doesn't seem right. His character was actually really complicated and I really liked it. Christina and Linda's characters bond over loss and they even move in together. The show ends up taking us on a total trip where I didn't know who to believe. I liked all the characters but I didn't trust any of them! This is one of those shows that has equal parts friendship and loyalty and equal parts sadness and depression. It was brilliantly written, I have this thing where I predict what happens during shows like this but I was really wrong. I do think that Christina's character was a little too hard, I think she would be really hard to get along with. I get that she's gone through a lot but it's like th

Instant Family

Movie Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne are married and they decide that they should become foster parents completely randomly. I have thought about doing this too, but I can't imagine actually doing it! It seems so scary! And they choose this girl who spoke up and insulted them. Also there is this part where they have an adoption party where they match kids up with fosters... I can't believe that's how it really works. Is it? It was a funny movie, but in Mark Wahlberg style its not all beautiful. There is a dramatic part that makes it more human but its also a funny and sweet movie. It all ends up perfectly and beautifully. I did watch it with my aunt and a couple cousins and my aunt was a little nervous watching it, so maybe don't watch it with little kids? I love these 2 actors and also Tig Notaro and Octavia Spencer played their roles perfectly! I was a fun movie, I know I'm being weird about it. But you should still watch it!

Star

TV Show Star is done by the same people who produce Empire. Empire takes place in Chicago where Star takes place in Atlanta. There isn't a lot of cross-over but they mention Lucius and some other things. Anyway, I didn't watch Empire. I watched Star because Chad Michael Murray was on it even though he's only in the last season and not even very much. Plus he's kind of not believable in his character... I really liked Star and her sister's storylines and characters and while Alex is really talented, I'm not a fan of her storyline. I like the music and I like shows that have music like this. I watched Nashville and loved the music on that as well. I'm also watching Empire now and I think I'll mostly like it. It has stars like Queen Latifah, Brandy, Patty LaBelle, even Gladys Knight cameos. It also has lower level somewhat knowns like Evan Ross, CMM, Benjamin Bratt, Keke Palmer, Naomi Campbell, and Tyrese Gibson. It has so much drama! It was constantl

The Boys

TV Show This show is an Amazon original and I first heard of it because I follow Chace Crawford on Instagram and he is in it and was talking about it. I looked into it a little more and it turns out that it is about superhero's that end up taking advantage of there stardom... A lot like celebrities do in our world so it seems like something that would probably end up happening. It has Chace Crawford or Gossip Girl and Karl Urban of Star Trek and Thor and about a billion other things and also Jack Quaid who is new to the scene but acting royalty. Jack Quaid is the son of Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan! Also he is in a few things like Hunger Games and Plus One but he wasn't well known during Hunger Games. I have a feeling that he has hit his stride and 2019 is the real start for him. This show is about exposing the "Sups" as the jerks that they are and make sure they don't get access to the military. There is also another twist that made it even weirder that made it

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

TV Show This show brought up a lot of things that I didn't know. Sabrina the teenage Witch is based off of a spin off of Archie Comics! So this show has a lot of the same kind of intensity as Riverdale. Its Sabrina (but not Melissa Joan Hart) and her aunts Hilda and Zelda but a very dark twist. It takes place in Greendale which is right by Riverdale and I'm guessing somewhere in Massachusetts but I can't find anything that actually says that. Its talks a lot about the Salem witch trials. Sabrina has to decide if she wants to join the church of the Night and the Devil and become a full witch instead of a mortal. She tries to keep her mortal life and friends and stay a witch. But it turns out to be more difficult than she thought. So while this show has a lot of cool, entertaining moments. It is dark and satanic and that will not appeal to everyone. I don't think I could watch it for very long but its only running for 2 seasons so I think I can stand it for that long.

To Live and Die in LA

Podcast Rolling Stone journalist Neil Strauss decided to investigate a missing actress/model Adea Shabani. Adea was 25 when she was last seen driving away from her apartment in her boyfriend's truck. Chris Spots was an aspiring actor too and they had met in an acting class. Unfortunately Chris was engaged to someone else which naturally caused some drama. Adea had moved to LA from Macedonia 2 years before she went missing but she was already starting to make a name for herself. Neil got involved and started working with the private investigator hired by Adea's family. He was 100% following Payne Lindsey's strategy. The difference is that Neil was super judgmental from the beginning. The story needs to be told, in my opinion, the actual killer is still lose. The case is closed because Chris Spots killed himself over being stopped by cops and they took that as a confession. Everyone who has listened to this podcast or knows the story knows that Chris and his dad were in

Imperfect Courage: Live a Life of Purpose by Leaving Comfort and Going Scared

Book by Jessica Honegger Ok so I heard of Jessica Honegger from the podcast Girls Night with Stephanie Mae Wilson. Jessica started the jewelry company that I tried to sale for. That isn't working so well but I really liked what the company and Jessica represented. Jessica was also plugging a book she wrote. I did some research and Jessica also had a podcast. I listened to the podcast and decided that I would support her in every aspect. So I also bought her book. Imperfect Courage is the story about how through the desire to adopt a son from Rwanda gave her a way to make money by selling jewelry made by friends of friends in Ethiopia. She hosted her first party selling this jewelry and other things of hers that she could think to sell. 7 years later the company is Fair Trade and supporting hundreds of companies all across the world. Noonday is a very successful company based on people and face to face interactions. The book tells about all the struggles and stresses that Jessi

Dark

TV show I was recommended this show and was told that it was the Stranger Things for adults. It's also German, and I was told to watch it in German but I didn't... I watched it dubbed over in English. But I plan to rewatch it with subtitles so that I can hear the actual German. Anyway, this show is dark... get it? And confusing. I had to stop and pay attention more than I usually would. It has murder, family, and time travel! But the time travel aspect is way different than I expected. It was trippy. The characters aren't really the kind of people that you would really cheer for though. There are a few of them that are better than others so they become the people you cheer for. It's a weird thing where you hate everyone but there are a few people that you don't hate as much, maybe that was just me. It's one of those shows that has different generations swirling around each other filling in different storylines. And there were people from all different gene
