Gilmore Girls A Year in the Life

TV show- Netflix

This is a little old but I rewatched it recently so I feel comfortable writing about it. They bring back all of our favorite call backs! Lorelai looks much older but she's done trying to pretend that she is still a young mother. In Lauren's books she talks a lot about the 3 stages of acting. 1 woman about town, 2 mother of young hot girl 3 old grandmas. She's embraced that she is in the second act of life and she's not the hot young thing anymore. She's settled down in real life with a wonderful guy who strangely has Luke vibes... Peter Krause seems like the perfect guy for her even if he plays her brother...

But this is about the show. It is crazy how much everything was the same but so different at the same time. Well Lorelai and Stars Hollow is the same, but Rory is very different. Still her but very different... It actually seems more accurate than almost any show I've seen. When we graduate High School or College we see this wide open world and its open to everything we want in life. But then something ends or doesn't go like we planned and we have to decide where to go after that defining moment. Rory is still trying to find her way after this moment happened. She's not going the way I would, but she is actually going a way that makes sense for her.

Lorelai is still with Luke and they have been together since the original show ended. So obviously not a whole lot was going on there. The most important thing is that Milo Ventimiglia is back and looking incredibly hot in a way that he was not hot before. He is built and he's got an added star quality that wasn't there before. Laine and Zach are back, Gypsy, Taylor, Miss Patty, Babette, Kirk, Michel, Caeser, are all back. Paris and Logan are back in their own ways. Emily is finding her place after Richard's death ( because Ed Hermann died in real life) And Sooki does make a return even though we weren't sure she would because she tweeted that she wasn't invited.

I loved this because of nostalgia but it was also very well done! I miss Gilmore Girls all of the time. I felt like they were part of my life and rewatching is fantastic but its like watching home movies. Just because you love reliving the past, doesn't mean that you don't want to know what the future holds. I don't understand why shows like Law and Order and Grey's Anatomy that keep going over the same stories over and over again can last 15 years while shows like Gilmore Girls and Everwood only last a few seasons. I want to keep following their lives!

  1. Fun fact that I forgot to mention, Luke Danes actor Scott Patterson is very well-rounded. Turns out he played professional baseball! He was on the Yankees but he never actually played a game for them... Also he is currently recording his own music and selling his own coffee, Scotty P's Big Mug Coffee. He's kind of a big deal.
